Hands on Learning
“Play is the work of the child”
Children learn through play as they learn through experience. From birth to age 6, the child is able to learn new things effortlessly and unconsciously, just by being in the right environment and having opportunities to explore. Dr. Montessori called the concept the “absorbent mind”. It means that the child is able to “absorb” new information like a sponge.

Learning Skills
Our curriculum education leads to independence. It encourages exploration and teaches children to take responsibility for themselves, their belongings, and the environment. Our curriculum often includes practical activities like sweeping or personal care.
Prepared Envioroment
The prepared environment is an
essential part of our curriculum. It should be an environment of beauty, where children can move freely and act independently. This environment should also be structured and have meaningful order. It may seem counter-intuitive to the “freedom of movement” but the truth is- children love order and routine. It helps them to navigate
the world they live in.
Observation and Discovery
Observation is done by following the child, gauging their interest, and inviting lessons that stimulate and foster their development period. Children go through a sensitive period where they focus on a particular activity, till they feel it is mastered or has exhausted their attention.
Our Summer Program
Get ready for an unforgettable summer filled with adventure, learning, and fun! Our Mundelein Montessori Summer Camp 2025 offers an exciting lineup of activities designed to keep children engaged, active, and inspired from June through mid-August. Campers will enjoy a variety of off-site field trips to incredible destinations such as Green Meadows Farm, where they can interact with farm animals, LEGO Land, for hands-on building and creativity, and Kohl’s Children's Museum, where interactive exhibits make learning fun. We’ll also experience the magic of live performances at the Marriott Theatre, cool off at local spray parks, and explore wildlife at the Racine Zoo. Plus, our campers will love special events like a foam party and our exciting End-of-Summer BBQ!
In addition to field trips, our summer program includes weekly park visits, creative crafts, engaging games, and plenty of opportunities for social interaction and exploration. Whether your child loves hands-on activities, outdoor adventures, or making new friends, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
